~ Landscape Artist ~
Nature is exhilarating.
It is colourful, sensual, light, dark, enticing, challenging.
Everything about it provides me with an energy that I try to express in my work.
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
About Louise Holman
Having spent many years working in media in London, a move to south Devon in 2009 to run a retreat centre set within some 80 acres of rolling countryside inspired me to pick up my paint brushes and camera for the first time in 35 years.
Open vistas of Dartmoor and Devon’s Southwest Coast Path
supply me with an endless wealth of material to work with....whether it be a small cluster of wild flowers or a magnificent windswept tor.
I try to work with this visual stimulus; interpreting it onto canvas or page, trying to express the ebb and flow of nature that this part of Devon displays in its most basic form.
I work in an intuitive way, making marks at speed, often in ink, then refining,
reshaping and finessing the interpretations of Devon landscape and nature’s images that I know and love.
